Into the Unknown: Dev Log 9 (Act 5 Update and Origins)

Hello everyone,

Today, I just wish to give a quick update about the progress of Act 5. I have now completed the first two chapters of Act 5, and am now moving onto chapter 3. Chapter 3 will explore the location of Black Site 9 as the crew learns about the scientists and the potential uses of the Clam Generator.

Also, now I would like to go into why I started this project to begin with. When I first started writing this campaign three years ago, I just really wanted to write a Sci-Fi space campaign around one of my favourite games, Stellaris. Set in a galaxy after one of the endgame crises had been defeated, but the galaxy was crippled and almost extinct. This was the hook that originally started the development of Into the Unknown.

Over time, it grew and grew, as I wrote in the background while running the Tyranny of Dragons campaign. But earlier this year, I took stock of how much work I've done and made the decision to publish it. This led me down a complicated path that also led me to writing Murphy's Field Guide as I realised my abilities no longer could work with using another sci-fi conversion and had to make my own.

I have very much enjoyed working on this project and will continue to work on it over time as it has become very close to my heart.
