Into the Unknown 5E: First Steps & Murphy's Field Guide (Early Access)

Into the Unknown is set in a post-apocalyptic galaxy, devastated by a psionic force known only as the Invaders. You play as a crew originating from the Endurance space station, the last hope of the Alliance, and it is dying. You are the only ones who can save it.

This Bundle Includes Murphy’s Field Guide and First Steps. The content in this bundle is still a work in progress, which is why I am releasing it in early access. I will be updating the files monthly with new powers, backgrounds, feats, flavour content, and two additional acts for First Steps. 

 Into the Unknown: Murphy’s Field Guide is the player’s handbook for the Into the Unknown campaign setting. The guide is written in-world by the annoyed and fed-up Captain Alex Murphy, who begrudgingly teaches you how to survive in a galaxy where almost everything is trying to kill you.

 Into the Unknown: First Steps is the first campaign module for Into the Unknown, a setting. First Steps follows a crew of outcasts, survivors, and rejects as they attempt to secure the last hope the galaxy has left: the Endurance.  Along the way, you will face dangerous foes from a rogue A.I attempting to " perfect "organic life, to a lost, abandoned soldier who has only one desire to butcher and maim.  

You will run, you will fight, and then you will die. 

This Field guide includes:

• A brief setting guide for players to acquaint themselves with the setting.
• 7 original races along with Humans,
• 3 original subraces including Enhanced Organic, Hybrid and Cyborg. 
• 10 classes, which range from standard reflavoured SRD classes, i.e., the Combantant and the Brute, to new and original ones, i.e., the Coordinator and the Psion. 
• 30 flavour-rich original subclasses.  
• 18 original backgrounds
• 16 original feats
• 23 original technology/psionically enhanced Items
• 20 Cybernetic Prosthetics
• 6 Spacecraft Enhancements and Equipment
• Tech and Psionic powers up to Level 4.  
• An original spacecraft combat and creation system  
• A Downtime system designed for storytelling and character progression 
• Standard 5E rules

First Steps includes:

• A detailed GM-only setting guide
• Act 1- The Dying Core
• Act 2- Distress Signal Enabled 
• Act 3- Rise of the Sole Caretaker

• Recommended Levels 1-5
• Stat blocks and NPCs to accompany each act.

All Into the Unknown books are currently unillustrated. As I’m not an artist, and I don’t feel comfortable using AI-generated art, I’ve chosen to focus on writing and design first.

One day, I hope to commission artwork that reflects the tone of the setting,  something that feels aged, forgotten, and water-damaged. The final visual style will be intentionally distressed: blotchy, faded, and drained of most colour, like a relic uncovered in a ruined archive.
