Into the Unknown: First Steps (Weekly Dev Log 1)

Well, Into the Unknown has been out 5 days now, so it feels its a good time to do my first weekly update.

(If you follow multiple Into the Unknown projects, you may see a similar post today, just keeping all entries updated!)

First things first, I would like to thank everyone who has supported into the unknown by either downloading or viewing the project, it has been greatly appreciated. you very much.

This week, I've learned so much about publishing.  I realised I overpriced First Steps at launch compared to Murphy’s Field Guide, so I decided to adjust it slightly.

After a conversation on Reddit with someone who viewed my work, they advised me to show more content so people know what they are getting, which led me to add demos to all Into the Unknown projects and, as of today, create a standalone demo bundle on the storefront.

You can check it out here:

And finally, I realised that black and white cover art wasn't going to cut so I made some setting-appropriate covers for the projects, which, to be honest, I should have done in the first place.

Now onto the content, for First Steps, I made massive progress on Act 4 this week, taking it out of the draft phase and into a proper campaign module. This included developing NPCs more and adding dialogue to them, and adding chapters that had been in my head for a while now, but are now on the page.

All in all, this has been a very educational week for me as an independent creator. It may not have gone as smoothly as I would have liked at times, but this was a great first step and thank you all for taking it with me.

Kind Regards

E.S.Cooper
